Therese Walker, funeral advisor at Fenix Funeral Directors

Therese Walker

Therese is a Funeral Arranger with more than five years’ experience as a Civil Celebrant and certification as an End-of-Life Doula, trained to provide practical and emotional support around dying, death and bereavement. Her earlier background in customer care, sensitive escalations and end-to-end process management helps her offer families calm, clear guidance through both the emotional and practical parts of arranging a funeral.

Before becoming an arranger

I worked in the software industry as an end-to-end process manager and a customer care and escalations manager.

What was your motivation for becoming a Funeral Advisor?

Working in this industry felt like a natural place for me. It is what I love to do most: to help people, to walk them through the darkest parts of their life and give them something to hold on to.

What do you enjoy most about working for Fenix?

I value the flexibility of the role and the opportunity to support families with very different wishes, circumstances and needs. Every family teaches us something, and I appreciate being able to bring both compassion and practical guidance to each arrangement.

What experience is most important for your role at Fenix?

My experience as a Civil Celebrant and certified End-of-Life Doula helps me understand both the emotional and practical needs that can arise following a death. My previous work in customer care, sensitive escalations and end-to-end process management also helps me guide families calmly and clearly through each stage.

What is your approach to funerals and how they are arranged?

My approach is: “This is for you and your loved one, not for me.” I begin by listening carefully to what matters to the family and then help them understand the available choices. My aim is for each family to feel heard, properly informed and supported in creating something that feels right for them and the person they love.

Do you have any advice for families when it comes to arranging a funeral?

Be gentle with yourself. Grief is real, and there may be easier and harder moments. You do not need to understand or decide everything at once. We are here to help with the practical details, explain the available options clearly and support you in making choices that feel meaningful to you and your family.
