Before becoming an arranger
I trained as a Celebrant, and then went on to work as an Arranger. Before moving into the funeral industry I had already helped various families organise funerals for their loved ones, including the funeral of my late niece. I find it very rewarding helping people in all aspects of life.
What was your motivation for becoming a Funeral Advisor?
A number of people had mentioned to me that I was good at organising funerals, and I felt it was something God had called me to do — though it was not until many years later that I made the move.
What do you enjoy most about working for Fenix?
I like the flexibility, and all of us working together as a team.
What experience is most important for your role at Fenix?
Practically everything I have learnt in my earlier jobs has contributed to helping me succeed in my role at Fenix, along with the life experience of helping organise other funerals.
Do you have any advice for families when it comes to arranging a funeral?
Come with an open mind, and with the understanding that Funeral Directors do things differently. Don't expect Fenix to do things the same way as other FDs you've been in contact with before — your Arranger is there to help you.
