Chesterfield & District Crematorium (Brimington)
The Chesterfield and District Joint Crematorium Committee acquired this peaceful 20-acre site near Brimington in 1954, transforming it into a beautifully landscaped area with trees, shrubs, and flowers. The crematorium building was officially inaugurated on October 31, 1959, by The Rt. Hon. The Earl of Verulam. Here, anyone can be cremated, regardless of local connections or religious affiliations.
Within the grounds, there are two areas for the strewing of cremated remains—one to the north of the crematorium buildings and another to the south, known as the Woodland Walk.
The crematorium chapel has recently undergone a full modernization and refurbishment, including increased seating capacity from 80 to 100, new carpets, floral displays, walls, and lighting. The entrance now features a second set of external doors to reduce noise and a new exit ramp leading mourners to the floral tribute area, sheltered from the elements by a covered roof.
The public car park at the crematorium offers 95 parking spaces, including six designated disabled parking bays—two adjacent to the vestry near the ministers' parking and four in the public car park closest to the chapel.
Please remember: you need to book an appointment at the Chesterfield & District Crematorium in order to discuss your plans. We’d be happy to help you do this, so feel free to get in touch with one of our personal advisers.
