South Shields Crematorium
The South Shields Crematorium boasts extensive grounds adorned with diverse flower borders, trees, and shrubs, creating a tranquil backdrop for its memorial gardens. Open to all, regardless of residence or religious beliefs, the crematorium ensures an inclusive final resting place for everyone.
The chapel, accommodating approximately 200 seated guests with an additional 30 standing in the foyer, provides a solemn space for funeral services. Additional standing room is available outside under a canopy, with the service broadcasted through external speakers. A waiting room and public toilets enhance the visitors' comfort. The crematorium allows audio or video recording and streaming of services upon the legal applicant's request, either through personal equipment or the crematorium's facilities, arranged through the funeral director for a fee.
Visual tributes, including single photos or slideshows of up to 25 images or a family-created video, can be incorporated into the funeral service for an additional charge. Moreover, the crematorium hosts baby and infant memorial services in collaboration with South Tyneside District Hospital, occurring biannually with hymns, prayers, and readings. These services warmly welcome all families and friends who have experienced the loss of a baby.
