Gilroes Crematorium
Established in 1902, Gilroes Crematorium holds the distinction of being the second oldest municipal crematorium in the country. With a legacy spanning over a century, the crematorium has conducted over 200,000 cremations, offering a profound and dignified setting for funeral services.
Operating Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 4 pm, the crematorium provides flexible service times, extendable upon request, and Saturday morning cremations are available with prior arrangements. Each chapel accommodates up to 100 people, with additional seating inside chapel viewing rooms. Maintaining a non-denominational atmosphere, Gilroes ensures that various religious services find an appropriate and respectful space.
For those with hearing difficulties, an induction loop and external speakers have been installed. The crematorium embraces personalisation, offering high-quality digital multi-media services. - After approximately 2 km, turn right onto London Road (A1081) at the roundabout.
- Follow the A1081 for 4 km, passing by Batchwood Golf Club on your right.
- Turn right onto St Albans Road (B467) at the roundabout.
- The crematorium will be on your left after 500 metres, near the junction with Brickkiln Lane.
From Rickmansworth:
- Head east from Rickmansworth town centre on Rickmansworth Road (A412).
- Stay on the A412 for about 4 km, passing by Cassiobury Park on your right.
- Turn right onto St Albans Road (B467) at the roundabout.
- The crematorium will be on your left after 500 metres, near the junction with Brickkiln Lane.
From Hemel Hempstead:
- Take Marlowes Road (A4144) south from Hemel Hempstead town centre.
- After 2 km, turn left onto Redbourn Road (B4057).
- Follow the B4057 for 5 km, passing by The Ridgeway golf course on your right.
- Turn left onto St Albans Road (B467) at the roundabout.
- The crematorium will be on your left after 500 metres, near the junction with Brickkiln Lane.
