Portchester Crematorium
Opened in 1958, Portchester Crematorium is located on the lower slopes of Portsdown Hill, between Fareham and Portsmouth. Governed by a Joint Committee comprising representatives from the City of Portsmouth, the Boroughs of Fareham, Havant, and Gosport, the crematorium operates independently. It benefits from specialised administrative and technical support from the constituent local authorities.
Initially performing 400 cremations annually, the crematorium has witnessed a significant increase, now conducting over 3,300 cremations each year, establishing itself as one of the busiest facilities of its kind in Britain. A second Chapel was inaugurated in September 1969. Adhering to the Federation of British Cremation Authorities' Code of Practice, the crematorium is committed to maintaining the highest standards. Recent enhancements, including new cloisters and waiting rooms, reflect the commitment to providing a top-tier experience for those attending services.

The nearest railway station is Portchester, a mere 15-minute walk from the crematorium. Alternatively, you can opt for Fareham Station, a short taxi ride away.
By Road:
If you're travelling by car, exit the M27 at junction 11. Follow signs for the A27 towards Portchester. After covering 1.5 miles, take the first exit at the Cornaway Lane roundabout. The Crematorium will be just up over the railway on the left.
By Air:
For those arriving by air, the closest airport is Southampton International Airport at junction 5 on the M27. It's approximately a 15-minute car journey away and is conveniently served by various taxi companies.
