Manchester Crematorium, Manchester

Manchester Crematorium, Manchester

Manchester Crematorium was first opened in 1892 – only the second in this country. There are two chapels on the grounds, with the oldest dating back to the original opening and the new chapel dating back to 1954.

There are four separate memorial gardens that are expertly cared for throughout the year, including the Old Rose Garden and the natural Woodlands Garden where you can find many mature trees. A Book of Anniversaries is on display all year, displaying a full record that coincides with special dates in a person’s life, and private memorials can be installed both indoors and outdoors.

The Gardens of Remembrance offer a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, and attracts numerous birds and wildlife through the year. The gardens have been expertly planned and meticulously maintained in order to ensure a bright display of colour throughout the year.

The crematorium chapel can host both religious and non-religious funeral services. Ashes may be interned underground, next to a shrub or rose bush dedicated to the memory of the loved one, or scattered on the lawns or in the Woodlands Garden under the strict supervision of the crematorium staff.

Please remember: you need to book an appointment at the Manchester Crematorium in order to discuss your plans. We’d be happy to help you do this, so feel free to get in touch with one of our personal advisers.
