West Norwood Crematorium, London
The West Norwood Crematorium opened in 1915 in what is now West Norwood Cemetery. The new crematorium was built in 1956, with two new chapels, the Hall of Memory, an oak columbarium and a Recordia. All are still in existence today, including the Book of Remembrance where lasting records can be made to honor the lives of those we’ve lost.
Both chapels accommodate all faiths as well as non-religious services. Services are 30 minutes long, and held at 45-minute time slots. There is a special area for floral tributes.
Ashes may be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance or the chapel lawn by prior arrangement.
The Garden of Remembrance is laid out on peaceful grounds. The chapel can seat 100 mourners. It’s brightly light and very tranquil. An Obitus online music system is available to assist your choices in funeral music. Keepsakes can be arranged.
After the cremation, ashes may be buried in the gardens, or scattered on the lawns under the supervision of the crematorium staff. Scattering must be arranged beforehand.

From the A205, head towards Thurlow Hill and turn right onto Lancaster Avenue. Turn left onto Ardlui Road, then right onto Chatsworth Way. Stay on Chatsworth Way until you can turn left onto Norwood Road and the A215 and continue to follow the road.
