South Essex Crematorium, Havering
The South Essex Crematorium is laid out on open land to the west of Upminster Cemetery. The crematorium serves four of Havering’s cemeteries.
South Essex Crematorium is divided into separate areas with pristine grass, flower beds, shrubs and flowering trees. The main red brick crematorium buildings incorporate a circular, conical-roofed Chapel of Meditation and the entire complex is surrounded by Tuscan colonnaded verandas. There is a lovely ornamental lily pond next to the drive leading to the main buildings and several peaceful rose gardens.
Some of the facilities included on the grounds are the East and South Chapels, the Book of Remembrance, a Tea room, a reception building and beautiful memorial gardens. The South Chapel seats 120 mourners. There is a balcony and large digital screens available inside. The East Chapel seats 40 mourners. Both chapels have an organ, audio system, and webcast service available.
The facilities are accessible with a hearing loop, minicom and wheelchair ramps. The café on the grounds can provide formal catering or refreshments during your visit.

From the M25
Take the M25 to Front Lane and head north. At junction 29, take the A127 exit to Southend/Basildon. At the roundabout, ake the 1st exit onto the A127 ramp to London/Romford. Merge onto the Southend Arterial Road and make a slight left onto Front Lane. After about 2 miles on the B1421, take the second exit at the roundabout onto St Mary’s Lane. Turn left onto B1421 and proceed to the crematorium.
