Southend Crematorium, opened in 1953, is located in Sutton Road, a few miles north of the town centre.

There are two chapels available, the South chapel which can seat 44 mourners, and the West Chapel that can seat 100. Each of the chapels are equipped with wheelchair access and small waiting rooms. The South Chapel waiting room has refreshments available.

The Crematorium Garden of Remembrance covers eight acres of formal gardens, a sunken rose garden and rock gardens. Roses, trees and shrubs that can dedicated to loved ones. A newly built Pergola Walk incorporates slate memorial tablets with traditional and modern designs.

Nature lovers will enjoy the peaceful Woodland Memorial Garden, which has been densely planted with native trees and hollies, dog roses, ferns and more. A peaceful stream flows from a rock pool through the entire space, while a wooden pavilion provides shelter and a covered memorial area.

There are several internment options for mourners, including scattering or burial, or simply taking the ashes home with them after cremation. Options must be arranged by the funeral director with the crematorium staff.
