Honor Oak Crematorium, London
Honor Oak Crematorium is set in beautiful memorial gardens within Camberwell New Cemetery, close to Peckham. The building was designed by Aston Webb and dates back to 1939. It’s well-known for its remarkable stained glass window. It was refurbished in 2018.
The chapel can seat 70 people, and the entrance hall can be utilized as standing room for larger groups. Flowers remain on display in the chapel and music is available through the Obitus system, while screens are available for photos and videos. A webcast service is also available.
The gardens comprise 2.5 hectares of landscaped gardens, woodland and shrubberies. Memorial options include a Book of Remembrance, wall or kerb mounted plaques, roses and trees. The gardens are open every day from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
Families may choose how to intern ashes, either through scattering or burial. Ashes may also be taken home at a later stage, in a receptacle of their choosing. Scattering must be arranged via the funeral director and completed under the supervision of the crematorium staff.
