Islington Crematorium, London
The Islington Crematorium is set in a huge 190-acre cemetery with a Victorian chapel and grounds dating back to 1854. There are a wide range of facilities, including a waiting room and Book of Remembrance and parking is available throughout.
The Garden of Remembrance is a peaceful area where loved ones can spend their time walking or relaxing as they remember the ones they have lost. The garden offers several memorial options, including burial and scattering.
The Chapel, which seats 74, has a distinctive glass dome that lets in light and creates a hopeful ambience. Additional standing room is available, and there are two outside screens in order to accommodate larger groups. An induction loop is available to mourners who are hard of hearing and a ramp can be provided for wheelchair users on request.
The Chapel uses the Obitus multimedia music system that enable families to order music in advance, and digital screens are available for tribute videos and photos. It is possible to livestream the ceremony via a secure webpage and DVDs/Blu-rays may be made available for sale by prior arrangements. An electronic organ can be arranged as well.
