Mortlake Crematorium, Richmond
Mortlake Crematorium is situated within the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, on the banks of the Thames near Chiswick Bridge, and dates back to 1939. The crematorium is surrounded by 7 acres of picturesque gardens featuring an avenue of crab-apple trees, silver birch, open grassland and a rose garden. The expansive lawns are mown and striped regularly throughout the year and feature magnificent summer bedding displays between April and October.
There is a small secluded courtyard with a lily pond and a Babies and Children’s Garden known as the “Waterbugs and Dragonflies” section. A small flock of fantail doves occupy the crematorium gardens.
The chapel seats 130 people total, with additional standing room in the entrance hall. Fresh flowers are on display daily. Mourners are welcome to use the chapel in any way they like, without restriction.
