Hither Green Crematorium, Lewisham
The Hither Green Crematorium can be found on Verdant Lane, adjacent to the Hither Green or Lee Cemetery. There is a traditionally-styled chapel that can seat 80 people, equipped with digital screens and a webcam service.
The crematorium was established in 1956, the cemetery was opened in 1873. There a peaceful garden of remembrance that can be visiting during the entire year, as well as a Book of Remembrance room where families can record details about their lost love one.
The chapel is open to religious and non-religious ceremonies. Families may arrange for a minister, religious leader or celebrant to oversee the service. An Obitus music system is available, with a wide selection of music to choose from before the ceremony.
Families and friends may visit the grounds throughout the year. The grounds are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00pm and on weekends from 10:00 to 3:30pm. Bank holidays may affect these hours. Ashes may be scattered or buried on the grounds, by prior arrangement and under strict supervision. There are several memorial options available, including benches, living memorials and plaques.
The grounds are very well-maintained and offer a peaceful respite for mourners who wish to visit, rest and reflect.
