West Suffolk Crematorium
Situated within the serene Suffolk countryside, spanning 13 acres, West Suffolk Crematorium and Cemetery is a tranquil haven for families seeking a dignified setting for their loved ones' services.
Established in 1989, the crematorium's commitment to meeting the growing demand led them to introduce a second chapel. In March 2018, the new Abbey Chapel joined the original St Edmund's Chapel, characterised by its traditional appeal with oak pews and a comforting ambience, accommodating 95 seated guests and additional standing room.
The modern Abbey Chapel, featuring light and airy surroundings with oak upholstered chairs, provides seating for 60, with room for 20 to 30 standing guests. The Hospitality Suite, including the Meadow Cafe and function rooms, opened in June 2018, offering a welcoming space for funeral wakes. Serving communities from Bury St Edmunds to Ipswich, Thetford to Diss, and Newmarket to Cambridge, West Suffolk Crematorium is renowned for delivering exceptional funeral services. The cemetery, introduced in May 2005, provides various burial options in a beautifully landscaped area, ensuring a picturesque final resting place.
Please remember: you need to book an appointment at the West Suffolk Crematorium in order to discuss your plans. We’d be happy to help you do this, so feel free to get in touch with one of our personal advisers.

Directions
From Cambridge:
Take the first exit (Bury St Edmunds West) at Junction 42. At the roundabout, turn left and follow signs to Risby and Crematorium. Continue along this road for about 100 yards, then turn left onto a small country road. The Crematorium will be on your right. Avoid taking the earlier exit to Risby, as it leads into the village and can be confusing. If you mistakenly take this exit, follow signs to Risby, pass the Crown and Castle Pub in the village, and turn right at the village memorial. Keep driving straight and do not turn onto Mere Lane in Risby, as it is a private road. The Crematorium is slightly further down Mere Lane on the left.
From Ipswich:
Take the third and last exit (Bury St Edmunds West) at Junction 42. Follow the roundabout until the last exit and exit here, following signs to Risby and Crematorium. Continue along this road for about 100 yards, then turn left onto a small country road. The Crematorium will be on your right.
Via public transport:
Unfortunately, there is no direct or regular bus service. If travelling by train, arrive at Bury St Edmunds and then take a taxi to the crematorium. Taxis are usually available outside the station, and please allow around 15 minutes for this journey.
