Weeley Crematorium

The Weeley Crematorium is a modern and beautiful crematorium in the picturesque village of Clacton-on-Sea. It’s operated by Tendring District Council as part of the Council's Operational Services Department.

The crematorium gardens are open daily, including public holidays, during specific hours. From Monday to Saturday, the gardens are open from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm (April to September) and from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (October to March). On Sundays, bank holidays, and Christmas Day, the opening hours may vary.

The Room of Remembrance, housing the Book of Remembrance, is also open daily, including public holidays. Opening times are from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (April to September) and 9:00 am to 4:30 pm (October to March). On Saturdays, the room is open from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, and on Sundays, bank holidays, and Christmas Day, the hours are subject to specific timeframes.

Directions

To reach the crematorium from London and the M25, take the A12 towards Chelmsford and Colchester. Pass the exits for Colchester West and Colchester Central, then join the A120 towards Harwich and Clacton. If travelling from the Midlands and North, follow the A14 (signposted Felixstowe/Harwich) until you are south of Ipswich. Join the A12 towards London, then take the A120 towards Harwich. Once on the A120, join the A133 for Clacton, Weeley, Frinton, Walton, St Osyth, Brightlingsea, etc. Then follow the B1033 until you reach the first roundabout, where you'll find the entrance to the crematorium.

If travelling from Norwich, take the A149 or A14 towards Ipswich, then continue on the A12 towards Colchester. From there, join the A120 towards Harwich and take the A133 to Clacton. Follow the B1033 to Weeley, and you'll find the entrance to the crematorium off the first roundabout.

For those travelling by rail, regular trains run to the Tendring area, with direct services from Clacton and Harwich International Port to London Liverpool Street. Take a train bound for Clacton/Walton on the Naze, but note that not all trains stop at Weeley, so check with the rail provider. The crematorium is approximately a fifteen-minute walk from the rail station. Please be aware that there are no waiting taxis available at this station.
