Chelmsford Crematorium

Chelmsford Crematorium

The Chelmsford Cemetery and Crematorium, or Writtle Road Cemetery, has been serving the community since 1887. Owned and managed by the local council, the crematorium offers two chapels to accommodate different group sizes. The South Chapel seats up to 108 guests while the North Chapel can seat up to 26 guests. The Wesley music system and electric organs are available to play pre-recorded music or for privately arranged organists to perform. Additionally, for a small fee, the funeral service can be recorded for friends and family who could not attend.

The Garden of Remembrance and lawn provide peaceful areas to scatter ashes or use the columbarium. The floral tribute area is separate from the chapels, allowing guests to admire the flowers without distracting from the service. The Chelmsford Cemetery and Crematorium truly aim to provide a dignified and respectful service for loved ones.

Please remember: you need to book an appointment at the Chelmsford Crematorium in order to discuss your plans. We’d be happy to help you do this, so feel free to get in touch with one of our personal advisers.
