Woodvale Crematorium

Woodvale Crematorium

Woodvale Crematorium provides a serene environment for remembrance and reflection. The crematorium's grounds are open every day of the year, and accessibility details, along with maps and directions, are available for those seeking to visit.

The facility boasts the North and South Chapels, originally built in 1856 and recently refurbished in 2013. Adjacent to the main crematorium building, these chapels seat approximately 80 people each and offer essential amenities, including free parking with spaces for disabled badge holders, waiting rooms, toilets, and facilities for visual tributes and live webcasts.

In addition to the main chapels, the Extra-Mural Chapel, a Grade II listed building constructed in 1851, is situated in the Extra-Mural Cemetery. This secluded chapel is set apart from the main crematorium building.

Woodvale Crematorium includes a dedicated Children's Memorial Garden for the strewing of cremated remains of infants, providing a quiet and respectful space. The crematorium building, nestled within the wooded area of Lewes Road, features both North and South Chapels approximately a quarter of a mile up the drive from the main gates.

The chapel facilities ensure a meaningful experience, with each chapel equipped for accessibility, including disabled access, hearing aid loops, and an electric organ. Visual tributes and keepsake recordings are available through the Obitus system.

Memorials at Woodvale Crematorium offer various options, including outdoor dedications in the Garden of Remembrance, indoor dedications in the Hall of Memory, planted memorials, cemetery and burial ground memorials, lawn grave memorials, memorial seats and bench plaques, and Woodland Valley memorials. Approved memorial masons are authorised for cemetery work, and the crematorium also provides options for memorial jewellery and paperweights crafted from a small amount of cremated remains, allowing loved ones to keep a memento close to their hearts.

Woodvale Crematorium encourages meaningful remembrance and offers a range of services to honour and cherish the memories of those who have passed.
