Darlington Crematorium

Darlington Crematorium

Established in 1901, Darlington Crematorium is the fifth of its kind in the country, boasting a rich history. Recently, the 1960s building underwent a full refurbishment and now houses the Cemetery and Crematorium Office, Books of Remembrance, and Crematory from July 2022. The newly constructed Darlington Crematorium Chapel, operational since April 24, 2023, provides a serene setting for cremation services. With a waiting room, accessible toilets, and a spacious chapel accommodating over 140 visitors, the building enhances the funeral experience. A well-lit and accessible car park with 65 spaces is available for mourners.

Cremations are conducted Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, with hourly bookings and the flexibility of extended times. Floral tributes are on display, with arrangements for removal or donation to nursing homes. The crematorium ensures accessibility, providing a loop system in the chapel, disabled parking, and accessible facilities. The Gardens of Remembrance offer a serene location for the scattering of cremated remains. Memorial schemes, including the Book of Remembrance, plaques, and other options, are available, and families are guided by the crematorium office for personalised services.

Please remember: you need to book an appointment at the Darlington Crematorium in order to discuss your plans. We’d be happy to help you do this, so feel free to get in touch with one of our personal advisers.
