Cardiff Crematorium
Thornhill Cemetery and Crematorium, established in 1952 with the crematorium following suit in the subsequent year, has evolved to become a significant place of memorial and reflection. Experiencing substantial growth, the crematorium now conducts nearly three times the number of cremations annually compared to its initial years.
The addition of Briwnant Chapel in 2000, alongside the existing Wenallt Chapel, provides alternatives to cater to various funeral preferences. The cemetery's expansion in 2010 accommodates the rising demand, and a new Enquiries Office, opened in the following year, enhances the setting for families to discuss arrangements for cremated remains, burials and scatters.
The crematorium offers diverse facilities, including car parking, vehicle access, accessible public toilets, an Enquiries office, a flower shop, and various grave options such as lawn, traditional, cremated remains, scatter garden, columbarium, book of remembrance, memorial garden plaques, tree dedication, and chapels of rest.
Briwnant Chapel, with seating for 40 people, features digital music systems, visual tributes, webcasts, and DVD or CD recordings. Wenallt Chapel, seating up to 160 people, offers similar options with additional capacity for musical ensembles and choirs, an organ, a waiting room, accessible toilets, level access, a loop system, disabled parking, and wheelchair availability. Thornhill Cemetery continues to provide a dignified and comprehensive environment for commemorating loved ones.
Please remember: you need to book an appointment at the Cardiff Crematorium in order to discuss your plans. We’d be happy to help you do this, so feel free to get in touch with one of our personal advisers.
