Worcester Crematorium

Worcester Crematorium

Worcester Crematorium, nestled approximately 2 miles north of the River Severn in Worcester City, offers a serene setting spanning 68 hectares. The crematorium building, surrounded by lush lawns, flower beds, historic gravestones, and towering trees, occupies a central position within the vast grounds. This area, encompassing 1.8 hectares, includes the crematorium, chapel, and open spaces adjacent to Barbourne Brook, defining its boundary.

The crematorium complex houses the Bereavement team reception, offices, meeting rooms, staff welfare facilities, and a public car park with 61 spaces, including disabled parking. Gardens of remembrance, a garden of solace, and a wreath terrace contribute to the tranquil ambience.

Accessibility is prioritised, with provisions such as a manual wheelchair on request, an induction loop system for hearing-impaired visitors, and large print hymn books for the visually impaired. Two disabled parking bays are available in the car park.

Worcester's Chapel, or Astwood Chapel, accommodates up to 105 seated individuals with additional standing space. The chapel hosts two 30-minute morning services and nine 45-minute services throughout the day. External speakers enable people to stand outside and listen to larger attendances, and a waiting room with a flat-screen TV accommodates extra mourners.

The chapel offers versatility for services of any denomination or faith, with options for visual tributes, live webcasting, and recording services onto various media. Musical preferences are honoured, and families can choose from an extensive music library or opt for an electric organ at no extra charge.

After the service, the exit door opens onto the wreath terrace, providing a gathering space for family and friends around floral tributes.

Please remember: you need to book an appointment at the Worcester Crematorium in order to discuss your plans. We’d be happy to help you do this, so feel free to get in touch with one of our personal advisers.
